They charged me a lot of money and I received nothing in return

This is a big scam affecting a lot of people it should be shut down they harass you through phone calls and emails I have tried to cancel for years they call and threaten you I want the government to intervene and close these people down. Do not ever deal with this company.

Travel Smart is a Scam and they will not refund you

Travel Smart VIP is owned by SUNWING TRAVEL GROUP (in Canada) and the Hunter family (Colin Hunter, Stephen Hunter) as well as TUI Group.

All the resorts which are part of this scam are the following: Blue Diamond Resorts, Royalton, CHIC, Grand Lido Negril, Hideaway, Memories, Starfish, Planet Hollywood and Mystique.

Even if the contract was cancelled within the 5-day cancellation period, in writing and by e-mail to every possible party, including socialmedia@***.com, vipconcierge@***.com, memberservicesSM@***.com

They have not refunded the deposit and it has been 6 months now.

They took over $4,000 by credit card, they absolutely do not care about their clients and certainly not the ones who are trying to cancel legitimately.

They have acknowledged receipt of the cancellation letter by e-mail and they responded by e-mail stating that it was within the time period allowed, but they never refunded the credit card up to this date. They wanted to speak in person but we insisted that everything be done in writing and they want us to sign a disclosure (or non-disclosure) agreement not to post negative reviews or to have negative reviews removed.

They will be brought to court in Canada (their Headquarters country) and the reviews will never be taken down unlike the hundreds of people on TripAdvisor who have removed their bad reviews because they received a conditional partial refund and signed the NDA.

We will not fall for this fraud and threats and will fight until we get all our money back plus damages and interests.

misleading. you do not need to sign a termination agreement or any type of agreement in order to get a refund as per your own termination clause in your own contract.

How do we band together and get our money back from travel smart. They are a RIP off and I believe we should have a way out of the legal scam they have going. It is unfortunate that hard-working people with good credit have to be taken advantage. First off they have one person for financing, Sebastian Ponce. And then they have these Spanish or Indian people, who just learned English, that you cannot understand providing customer service. They refuse to transfer you to a manager. And they refuse to process a payment over your scheduled amount. They cut off my login access, because I was overdue which requires me to deal with someone on the phone and then when I try to reactivate it we have a hard time, I get annoyed of them not understanding me and vice versa. I notice,whenever you ask too many questions they hang up the phone or when you try to call regarding something other than joining or payment no one answers the phone. Also, I have been getting fraudulent timeshare rental which is supposedly a scam, which I believe my information through travel smart has been leaked. So if there is anyone out here willing to take on a class act lawsuit to get people out from under or to get us our money back or out of this contract, then please we beg you for assistance. Because what is the point of a timeshare that you pay regular price for anytime you visit with no real discount. I pay $362 month for a 20000 dollars. To book it they charged me $1300 per person not including flights which is another 400 dollars.so for flights and rental there is no real bargain cause I got it for 1200 per person including flights from travel agent with no further obligations. There is no benefit and no justice. During the presentation that is not how it was explained. We are begging for help out of this unjust, unreal, horrible mistake contract.

Trying to cancel membership for months!!!

I can't believe how difficult it is to cxl this membership. No one calls back but they certainly keep calling for payment.

We signed up while in St. Lucia and felt very pressured and overwhelmed. Felt very pressured!!! They did not let us read or give us a chance to read any of the forms....reading the promissory note it states they can take over $10k from us.

When reading the club rules it stated travel smart can cancel the membership but we still have to pay. Absolutely a SCAM!!!!

UPDATE! Travelsmart continues to not respond to our messages.

We have now once again had another company reach out to us posing as Travelsmart and they have our credit Card number and membership number. I have once again contacted Travel smart and await a reply. I have sent TS the documentation showing that this has happened again. TRAVELSMART how does yet another company have our credit card number, membership number etc.

Etc.?? We have been waiting for a very long time to get a response and this clearly shows you do not care about your clients and continue to sell or give out our personal information.

My husband and I purchased our travel smart membership in January 2019 while visiting Punta cana. Two months later, we upgraded our membership. We were very happy with our membership and service until now. We received an email and phone call from travel smart asking us to pay the remaining balance of our membership. If we did so, we would save 5%. We thought it would be beneficial to do this to save that extra money and not have our $400 monthly payment to worry about. We paid our remaking balance of $28,000 and change. Last week I emailed our rep from travel smart to inquire to ensure they received our full payment. Turns out, this was all a scam. Somehow, other companies have all of our information including our membership number and details along with our names, phone number and emails. We are out over $28k. I messaged travelsmart this morning and was told that its been happening to many companies including travel smart. Now if TS knew about this why were their members not contacted? Why was nothing posted to their FB page or webpage? How are other people getting a hold of our personal information? I am disgusted with how we are being treated. WE are the ones out a lot of money and they could care less.

Update: spoke to a lady from TS concierge who stated that TS takes no responsibility for our membership number, names, phone numbers, address and personal emails being available to the fraudsters who have our $28,000. Travel smart claims they have investigated it and it’s not their fault- that somehow magically our personal information got into a scammers hands by Facebook or another online search.

I am not sure how someone could retrieve our private information such as our travel smart account number through anywhere except on travel smarts end. Travel smart doesn’t give a crap about what their so called family is going through and will not help us one bit! A multi million dollar company, we are just a dollar sign to travel smart and have been 100% taken advantage of. Our membership is completely useless to us now as we do not have any money left to travel after getting scammed.

Do not trust travel smart if your life depends on it. They made themselves out to be people who truly care when frankly they don’t care as long as they keep getting their new members and money.

Yes I have been in contact with the one person at the resort where we upgraded our membership, however we are not receiving any information other than there is an investigation. I had written a detailed message to Claudia at the resort and asked for it to be forwarded to management. I do not know if this has happened. I have also reached out through email to travel smart twice now and have not received a reply.

A few of the questions are in regards to this latest post from you stating the an email was sent out to the primary email of all of your members regarding these incidents. Like I’ve said, neither my husband or myself have received such emails and would appreciate a copy sent to us via email. I have also asked I do regarding the FQA’s because I cannot find any option on our tablet while logged into travelsmart where there are FAQ’s that mention this incident/ I am hoping for help to find this information, nobody has gotten back in touch with us (your auto-reply states usually within a few hours- it’s been a couple of days now and still no reply. I have tried to speak with management, however they were of course unavailable so I was told to email.

As I’m sure as a working man, you can appreciate that $28,000 could potentially be a personas yearly salary and this was money we didn’t have just laying around to give away. It seems that Travel Smart has no problem replying on here, but will not speak personally via phone or email (besides for what little I’ve heard from Claudia) although we think the world of Miss Claudia, and she does an exceptional job with her clients, it is management that we would like to speak with but this seems to keep being avoided. We are trying to be very patient- but know knowing what is going on, not hearing back after many messages and now emails have been sent is not satisfactory for us. We are members of your company.

We invested just under $40,000 and deserve to speak with someone who may be able to ease our minds a least a little bit. I would appreciate if you could confirm that my email that I sent to Claudia last week was forwarded to management as well That our other two emails send on Wednesday have been received. As stated above, we would like to have this letter emailed out to ous for our records as well as where we can find these FAQ’s in regards to this incident on your members page. If you prefer not to contact us, and this is how you want to continue though a posting group about unhappy costumers, I can certainly continue.

I found reservations for less then travel smarts membership offered, sent details to travel smart and they would not honor the discounted rates I found.
They became rude when I asked why cant I get the promised 30% off of the price I found and they told me to refer to the contract. I was told I would receive two free weeks in a Royalton presidential sweet, this two was not honored.. stay away, you will get better deals on any other website without a membership.

We just signed with Travel Smart and spend a few hours and... some $.

I hope our next vacation is gonna be a real good one like this one, here in Punta Cana. The presentation was long but it was made by very nice peoples and the atmosphere was great. I know very well that... nothing are for free and all the promises and the promotions "just for us" are part of a marketing thing.

We wait till our next vacation and then we will gona see if Tsv is a scam ot not. We hope not

This is clearly the basic answer Travel Smart gives everyone. I spent three hours on the phone with TS and this is exactly the answer the agent read to me.

However, when I quoted BookIt’s price the agent said since I signed in they will not honor the price. Bookit is free and their prices beat Travel Smart.

I want a refund. The package is a scam!

So apparently when you have an annual membership with them the fees are desperate than the monthly membership. They dont tell you this until When you are ready to travel. Please be aware that this company is a rip off. I will attempt to get out of this contract as fast as I got into it. Then he tells me that after two years of not paying my annual fee it is $900. Please do not waste your time, energy or money investing in something that does not benefit you or your family. The fees are outrageous.

You must get everything in writing. The customer service representatives are always misinformed and you receive conflicting information on a regular basis. I had 15 reservations and they refunded 11 and ignore what they told me and will not give a reason whey they denied the rest other than COVID19. They make up there own rules. The resorts are fine but they are inflexible when it comes to reservations.

This review is going to be a repeat of every other bad review you have read about travel smart. They are not in the business to service the paying members.

They are in business to take your money. I have paid $10,000 with them and haven't made a single trip with them as I keep finding the Royalton resorts at a cheaper price on other travel sites and Travel Smart refuses to do price matching and give the 30% discount.

Did you see the screenshots I've attached with my review? Why don't you provide a solution?

instead of copying and pasting the same message to every complaint. I'm using these websites after trying multiple times to work with your customer service representatives. They are basically thugs.

Every other travel site I've used like Expedia, Travelocity have provided the price match guarantee when proven without asking any questions. You guys have all the reasons not to provide value to your customers.

I sent the same information before the trip to your customer service agent. They never got back to me.

Attached is picture of the email I sent to your customer service agent. He never called back even though I called back multiple times. What do you have to say about that?

My goal here is to stop other people from signing up with travel smart. I'm going to make sure that your online reputation is completely ruined and I have the means to do that.

I relentlessly called for days. One named John and other named Josh.

I've also attached the screenshots of other agents I spoke. I also spoke to some who claimed to be the supervisor named carmen. Nobody did anything. So stop acting and pretending that you care.

I know that no one is going to call. I'll keep posting reviews every day until you guys give me money back.

Beware Royalton St Lucia and Travelsmart. Constant harassment by staff to join Travelsmart. During looking at what was involved and under false and misleading pretences with Ian Gilbert(closer) Travelsmart Fraudulently deducted a large sum from my credit card without authorisation and prior to going through or signing any documents or contract. False signatures were used or random initials not linked to us on a post dated contract. Cancelled this within 5 days but a refund has not been received. Travelsmart are now in breach of their own contract. I have complained to the general manager Rudy Richardson who wont get involved but allows Travelsmart staff to roam freely within the resort and not take responsibility Dalia Eugene (the Travel smart Rep) issued a settlement termination agreement for a full refund but revoked it within two days by sending a Re worded document with a much lower figure with a USD $28950 gagging order she expects me to sign, highly illegal! I have all proof and facts of the case with emails and am prepared now to take further action. The people named are all involved shamefully. Pay the full refund scammers.

Please be advised that you are under no obligation to sign however the cancellation of the contract cannot proceed without that document. Firstly the Termination Agreement does not form part of the contracts cancellation policy, it is not required by the bank or credit card company and is not legally required under consumer credit law which you are severely breaching. My lawyer has categorically stated that this is not a legal document and it will not be signed.

The termination agreement does state however that I must agree to removing all bad publicity or I must agree to pay USD $28950.00, this is not to cancel and obtain a refund but is a gagging order. If you want me to “shut up” then pay up! The longer it takes you to return my money the more you will be charged in damages. I will not give up as I have a legal right to cancel and get a full refund.

You have committed fraud and you will be held accountable when I am finished with you. Secondly you already have all my details which you illegally and fraudulently used to obtain funds from my account and they will never be provided again.

You are crooks, scammers and criminals and with so many similar complaints, it is only a matter of time before you are caught. Oh and Dalia, be honest for a change and pay up before it’s too late!

Travelsmart Vip Club - They sold us lies and we lose money

In 2013, I became one of the first Travel Smart members, Travel Smart (part of the Canadian Sunwing Group) call us founders.

We bought a 30-year membership ( US$ 25.559, -) with yearly 30.000 points.

The promised us a lot but the most important was savings!!

EXAMPLE:

If I book the Presidential one-bedroom suite at the Royalton Bavaro resort for 10 nights starting December the 12th 2020.

For this booking I must pay Travel Smart US$ 4.924,08

The price structure:

Travel Smart gives me a 30% discount on the lowest Internet price I can find for the same room, resort and dates. I found a price on Hotel.com US$ 3.352 minus 30% = US$ 2.346,40

That sounds good, but they also take 67.020 points from my membership

My points have a value of US$ 0,034 = US$ 2.278,68

I also have to pay yearly US$ 299 membership fee.

So in total I have to pay for this 10 day holiday US$ 4.924,08

As written, online I can book the same Presidential one-bedroom suite for US$ 3.352,00.

So no savings, I pay US$ 1.572,08 more.

Each year I lose money instead of earning back the membership money.

Several times I asked Travel Smart to react. They answer friendly, but they do not respond to the content of my example.

We have been members since 2015. With each vacation we do not see any savings.

You can book thru other sites with a greater savings. We were promised the same type of room on each trip. What they do not tell you is that each resort has has a different definition of what a luxury suite looks like. We hate to complain every time we travel but Travel Smart makes it very hard not to.

We feel we are not treated any differently than someone who just booked and are not members. On one occasion we were given the wrong bracelets and were denied access to some amenities.

Trying to claim my money back

Hello All, To make it short, I found out it's not as it was explained during the set up or what they call a presentation. Since Mid October 2019 I was in contact with them for several months to cancel and get my down payment of over 6K Canadian dollars. Finally, the cancelled the contract, but Zero dollars was refunded. I'm trying to find away to claim the money back. It's total scam. Although, their cost is Zero dollars I'm willing to pay a little penalty. If someone knows away, please advise.

Hello Travel Smart, Don't try to hide behind false claims, that you will work with us and all kind of lies etc. I went through it all.

It's straight forward, You charged me for a service which never received. When I asked to cancel the contract, You stole Yes you stole my full deposit of $6,144.00 CAD. You are operating in a lawless country or so. There is no way this could happen in Canada.

People ask to cancel simply because you lied to us. Interesting thing, You kept communication open with me till it's over 90 days since the contract date, you kept giving me hope that we may work something out. Then all of sudden, you cancelled the contract and kept the full deposit. You clearly knew, over 90 days, credit cards cannot charge you back.

To All, it's important to contact your credit card companies to charge back Travel smart. If you really interested to know my ID and really want to do something about it, Let's do it publicly here you go: Member ID: 394**** Proof me wrong.

Hello Raed, We are in the same boat and I am in Canada too. I am in the process of filing a lawsuit against all the companies involved and their parent company (Sunwing Travel Group) which is headquartered in Toronto, along with their Directors personally as they are vicariously liable for the fraudulent actions of their employees and we will have a Judge here in Canada lift the various corporate veils and jurisdiction issues so that we can get judgment personally against their founders here in Canada, Colin Paul Hunter and Stephen Hunter (current President), who are both Canadian residents.

This matter has been ongoing since 20 December 2019. 12 days ago I asked to speak to a manager and I’m still waiting for one to contact me! The service from Travelsmart is absolutely diabolical! I do not expect to be treated so badly when they are holding on to over $US 20,000.00 of my hard earned money! This is unacceptable! I will start legal action against Travelsmart for mis-selling, misrepresentation, breach of contract and theft. A year into our agreement, we upgraded and were told that the remaining points we had under our old contract for the year 2019 would be rolled over. This has not happened and I have been told that we cannot have the points which are rightfully ours. We paid for both of our agreements in full. Therefore their retention of our points is illegal, it is theft. We feel disrespected, hence why we are cutting all ties with Travelsmart. It is not worth the aggravation and stress. I am disgusted at the way we have been treated! EVERYTIME we deal with Travelsmart there is an issue! I work a full time 9-5 job and I do not have the time or energy to keep on chasing them! Travelsmart have had ample time to resolve our complaints but they clearly do not care about us, our feelings and the unnecessary stress they have caused us. All they have done is ignore my emails and that’s exactly what they’ll do to you if you challenge them. I would not recommend Travelsmart to my worst enemy. Do not do it people, it sounds glamours and they’ll pretend to give you the world but once they have your money, they’ll start treating you like *** This matter has been dragging on for long enough. Travelsmart owe me an explanation, an apology and damages!

Boy I do wish I had read their reviews before my husband and I went with them. They are the biggest scammers and liars ever. I want all my money back and I do not want to be a part of this resort how can we fight them and bring a civil lawsuit on them? They need to be brought all the way down. They take your money and tell you false things that are not true. You get a better deal booking on line through a travel agent or website. They do not treat their customers good at all!! Im very very unhappy and upset with them.

You must have got yourself confused @TravelSmartVIP... You can look everywhere on the internet (TripAdvisor, ComplaintsBoard and this very website) and the NEGATIVE FEEDBACK FAR OUTWEIGHS the positive ones and the odd and rare positive feedback have been crafted in a manner to make people believe that they were from actual satisfied members when in fact they are the same accounts that are used to comment over and over again to try to deceive people into thinking that their review or experience is real, and they even get disrespectful to other people in comment replies, calling them stupid and names for having signed a contract under the influence of alcohol and under undue pressure, for an unsolicited membership that they never wanted in the first place.
